Year 2 joined forces last week with some of the Year 6 children to complete our DT project and construct our car models. The children have been working on these for months and were delighted with the final products! Using Purple Mash, each child designed their own car and printed it onto card. They then had to use their cutting and folding skills to turn the net into a 3D car model. The children have learned all about the how car design has changed over history and what the different parts of cars are called. They attached the parts of their cars together, with some help from the Year 6's, then had lots of fun testing them out in the hall.
Our EYFS and Year 1 pupils had a lovely morning of sports activities led by our Sports Leaders, Play Leaders and Football Leaders this week. Taking part in obstacle races, target throws, rugby, tennis and football relays along with team building games, they were guided by our Year 5 and 6 Leaders throughout the morning. It gave our youngest pupils the opportunity to meet the children they will be working with in KS1 next year. Our Leaders showed great responsibility and demonstrated amazing maturity during the course of the event and with all the smiles on everyone's faces, it just showed how much everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you must also go to Mr Mawn from NOSSP, who supported the running of the festival.

This week our Year 5 Cricket Team travelled to St Edwards school in Oxford to take part in the County Cricket finals.
We were joined by seven other school teams from across Oxfordshire who won their respective partnership finals.
With very little cricket experience in the team, they showed great determination during all the games, some of which were against very experienced and competitive cricketers.
We are so proud of all of you, your attitude and teamwork really was a credit to you all. Finishing 5th was a well deserved result - well done everyone!

This week saw the first two of the Dynamos Cricket County Finals. Our Year 6 Boys Team and our Year 5 and 6 Girls Team travelled to Stratfield Brake in Kidlington to compete against the other top schools in Oxfordshire. There were seven girls teams which initially played in two round robin groups. We qualified for the next round after winning our group. The girls made it to the final where they played against Dr Radcliffe's school. After a really close game, Dr Rad's finished as victors with BLS finishing in 2nd place overall - congratulations girls you made us so proud!
All our players received certificates and wrist bands to recognise their achievements.
This week saw the first two of the Dynamos Cricket County Finals. Our Year 6 Boys Team and our Year 5 and 6 Girls Team travelled to Stratfield Brake in Kidlington to compete against the other top schools in Oxfordshire.
The boys started in a round robin group of four teams - moving through to the next round where they played Hill View, which they narrowly lost. After playing Queen Emma's school, our Year 6 Boys Team finished 6th overall out of 13 school teams. The boys demonstrated great teamwork and courage with a couple of them playing through injuries! Well done boys, you really played as a great team!
All our players received certificates and wrist bands to recognise their achievements.
