Cricket in the snow - what fun!!

Well after all the beautiful weather last week, cricket seemed like such a good idea. What a difference at BGN on Thursday - we were taking part in cricket activities in the snow!

24 Year 4 pupils were joined by children from Hardwick, Orchard Fields and St John's schools at the new Dynamos Cricket Festival.

Activities focussed on the skills required in a game of cricket and were led by coaches from Chance To Shine programme and Year 8 pupils from BGN.

All children had a lovely morning, despite the weather. We practised bowling, batting and throwing & catching skills, and rounded off the morning with games of Quick Fire Cricket. The Schools Games value was determination - there was certainly plenty of that on show . Congratulations to Sonny C & Zarah W who received certificates for demonstrating exceptional determination.

The event has prepared us for more cricket in the summer term - can't wait for the warmer weather!

  • NOSSP Football Tournament

    Published 10/03/22

Following their term of football coaching from Rob, as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, we took 28 children from Year 3 to the NOSSP Year 3 & 4 Football Tournament.

They were split into four teams of boys, girls and a mixed team. They were joined at the event by children from Orchard Fields and Longford Park schools.

The girls and boys teams played competitive games in a round robin format, whilst our mixed team split into two teams and played friendly games against Orchard Fields.

After all the points were collated, our girls team and boys '2' finished as winners, with our boys '1' runners up. Congratulations to all those who played, you showed kindness and honesty to your team, opposition, and all officials.

A special mention to Sam C, Kaiden M, Fleur H-P and Anabelle W who received awards for showing amazing respect.

  • Year 1 Multi Skills Festival

    Published 18/02/22

How wonderful to get back to indoor festivals this week with a Year 1 Multi Skills Festival at BGN.

We took twelve Year 1 children and our Sports Leaders from Year 6 who help lead the activities during the morning. Everyone had a fabulous time taking part in activities including obstacle races, rugby & tennis relays, target throwing, dribbling and team building. Each one was ably led by Year 7 leaders from BGN and our Year 6 sports leaders. We were joined by children from St John's, Hardwick, Longford Park, Orchard Fields, St Joseph's and William Morris schools.

Congratulations to all who took part, you represented Bishop Loveday beautifully. Well done to our Sports Leaders Charlotte, Ryan, Billy, Isla, Rosie & Oliver - you were amazing at encouraging all the children to take part and you really helped them enjoy the event. We are very proud of you all.
