  • School Games Gold Award

    Published 21/06/22

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

We are so proud to have bounced back after the disruption of COVID to be able to offer such a broad range of opportunities for our pupils, not only at school during PE lessons and extra curriculum clubs, but also in competitive situations both within school and against other schools at external events. Our thanks goes to NOSSP for their support in helping us achieve this with their comprehensive competition calendar.

  • Banbury Cricket Club

    Published 10/06/22

What an amazing day of cricket at Banbury Cricket Club for the BGN family of primary schools.

Three competitions were held simultaneously and included: Year 5 boys, Year 6 boys and Year 5/6 girls teams from Orchard Fields, St John’s, William Morris and Bishop Loveday schools.

Games were played in a round robin section and then semi- finals and finals.

BLS girls team finished 2nd in the round robin section, winning their semi final and then defeating Orchard Fields in the final.

BLS year 5 boys finished 1st in the round robin section, and then went on to win their semi final and final against St John’s and William Morris respectively.

Year 6 boys team convincingly beat St John’s and Orchard Fields in the round robin section, repeating their win against St John’s in the Final.

Congratulations to ALL BLS cricket teams - you demonstrated the BLS and School Games value of HONESTY throughout the competition.

All teams now will play in the county finals later this term.

Thank you to Rory from NOSSP and all the young leaders from BGN for organising and umpiring the games.
